Regioni d’Italia: Emilia Romagna

Emilia Romagna is located in Northern Italy, between the Apennines of Liguria and Tuscany and the left bank of the Po river. The region borders the Adriatic sea to the East, Piemonte and Liguria to the West, and Tuscany, Marche and the Republic of San Marino to the South.
Emilia Romagna's main city is Bologna.
The region has a population of 4 million inhabitants and a population density of 181 inhabitants per square kilometer.

Emilia Romagna is composed of two sub regions— Emilia, located in the north, and Romagna, comprised of the Po delta, between Bologna and Rimini. Emilia Romagna offers such diverse features as the Adriatic coast, the Padana plain and the Apennine mountains. Almost half of the territory is covered by plains; the rest of the territory is formed by hills and mountains.
